All the staff at United need to go back to the drawing board because the performances this season have been nowhere near good enough.
I can't see anything changing for a while... the players will still expect things to change without contributing themselves and Moyes needs to rethink his playing style. I understand the teams that have beat United think it's a momentus day for them but make no mistake. They didn't win because they were particularly good. They beat a poor playing, unlucky, out of ideas United side.
Any thoughts about where to go from here?

Moyes probably thinks he's doing ok because he's forgeting he's not at Everton anymore. Anyway what did you expect? I agree that the downfall is huge but it's not only Moyes the team has no real top quality.

I think you guys should play to attack, watching United this season, everything seems so cautious as though your afraid of losing which was never the case with United. Even when a team was 2-3 goas up against United, you never ruled them out, now if a club scores against United, it seems as though the players and the fans think its going to be a dead set loss.
Your strongest asset is your attack so you may as well use that to your best advantage, there really is not much you can do about your midfield and defence till Jan or even next summer so if I was Moyes, I would set out my most attacking team and just tell them to go really hard for the win.
Moyes really needs to throw out his defensive and cautious tatics that he had at Everton, it might of worked there but it is not working here.

I was thinking today, people are going on about how the club stood by SAF during his first few years, but Ron Atkinson was sacked because of a terrible league position in November and, presumably, because the board didn't like the direction the club was going in , ( The last united manager to be sacked ). Obviously it's far too early to say anything about the direction of the club under Moyes, but personally I think he's being overly optimistic if he thinks our league position has no impact on his job security at this point.
The other thing I was thinking about is how SAF reportedly took only 4 or 5 weeks before starting to completely change the way the club functioned, reforming the youth scouting and squad for instance. Of course, there's less for Moyes to fix now than there was for Fergie back then, but the point is he wasn't scared to address what he thought was wrong and make his mark. I was really hoping that Moyes coming would be an opportunity to address the complete lack of fluidity of our football, either with a few signings, some different formations, some bold team selections or even just a more subtle set of tactical instructions. But 5 or so months into the job, the sheer continuity between the end of SAF's reign and this season in everything except the results means he has very few excuses in my opinion – if you're going to play it safe, you need to at least justify it with your results.
Anyway, early morning meandering thoughts over – basically, Moyes needs to freshen things up a bit if he wants to earn himself more patience.

One of the pundits said something like this about the United - Newcastle game and I agree with him: While at Everton Moyes taught his team to play with caution, while Ferguson taught his team to play with adventure. That is exactly what is happening with the team performances this season. No creativity going forward, would rather prevent losing a goal than scoring one.... that and the defence has been poor all season for me

Negative football is pretty boring stuff but it can be very successful as you can see from Mourinho's teams. If you're going to play defensive you have to make sure you're able to counter effectively otherwise there's no point but currently Moyes hasn't found that balance.
