Bit mean. What happened to Gomez? We sold him way too cheaply to Fiorentina cause that's apparently where he wanted to go. Now he's injured.

I see what you did there bayern! Oh yeah? How much did you sell him for? He was a good player for you guys. something like £10-12m .. (I know!!!) He more or less wanted to leave because he wasn't seeing much first team football. I can't blame him because I think the amount of time he had to spend on the bench was pretty harsh. And he chose Fiorentina as he said at his age he wanted constant first team action. (World cup year also) To be honest, I love him and wouldn't mind still having him in the squad. He was injured for a spell in the first season half and by then Mandjukic was in front of him, and continued to be picked for tactical reasons (Mandjukic's strength at pressing etc.). Still, despite being injured and practically never starting he scored 11 league goals (Mandjukic 15). In the cup semifinal against Wolfsburg he came on in the 77th minute and 10 minutes later he had scored 3 goals lol. He then scored another two in the cup final.. People for some reason kept rubbishing him, but he was a goalscoring machine for us, I think he has the best minutes/goal ratio of all strikers ever or so.. If we lack anything now, it's a player like him. But he wouldn't have started much with Pep either, so..

Blimey, we could've bought him at that price! Well it's a bit of a shame that he left to get regular football but is now injured, how long is he out for? Have to say, it doesn't really look like you guys are missing him too much but like you said it's always good to have quality on the bench to come on if your front men aren't firing.

Probably Wenger doesn't rate him, as neither do all those other selfproclaimed football scientists who never actually win anything (Löw, Scholl come to mind).

Wenger is quite a selective guy, he won't buy someone if he feels he doesn't need them so he won't buy a player just because they're good and they're going cheap, he probably thought he didn't need him or maybe he knew that Gomez wanted to go to Fiorentina so didn't even bother going for him. Hard to say really, he's a fussy bastard though!

I woud of loved Gomez, might not be the hardest working player and chokes in big matches on ocassion but he sure does score plenty scores goals which is what a striker is paid to do.

I could well imagine Gomez not being up to Wenger's standards, plus in spite of the cheap transfer fee he'd probably have required some decent wages. Gomez can look incredibly clumsy at times, like he can't play football at all, but then he scores some brilliant goals...
Anyway, success can't be argued with, and you're doing pretty well for a change.
