If you just want him to make runs and score goals then that is what a striker does, at least more than what a winger does. A winger is suppose to dribble past players and create chances, which Walcott doesn't do. Our team has changed significantly since last season, Walcott is going to struggle as he doesn't have the passing ability of any of our midfielders. We have been playing this style of football for years but not to its full effectiveness, now we have the players to do it. Walcott has to improve his passing quick otherwise he will struggle with the one touch passing and quick movement. We have not been playing with any wingers this whole season and its worked well, mainy due to the fact we can pass so well, last season we couldn't of done this due to the players we had.

oh thank you for telling me aussie..... suarez is a striker and giroud is a striker and van persie is a striker...do any of the three look similar types of strikers? No.
theo is a winger forward..not striker.....you saying youve never seen theo go past his marker or found while making run behind fullbacks
i agree about the passing but we play different system with theo on the wing anyway more 433 while without wingers we go for 4-1-4-1 or 4231
he will be fine.

Theo's an attacking assassin who's free to roam but was never a winger
he scores & assists consistently - getting himself into open spaces in the final third is what we need him for & not to pass
as long as he doesn't give the ball away often it's all good

But he is not going to get in the final third all the time, he is going to have to be involved in the passing leading up to it, my problem is that our passing is so precise and intricate now, he might struggle and ruin our build up moves.
Having said that, I hope he starts against Everton as Martinez likes his fullbacks going foward so having someone like Theo would make sure they stay back.

I think he'll be alright, like you said his finishing has improved immensely so he just needs to work on getting himself in the right positions and he can do that from the wing, he's certainly most effective on the counter.

paul stop it youre causing traumas to that child youre holding there... wash your mouth you stinky little englander  aussie - But he is not going to get in the final third all the time, he is going to have to be involved in the passing leading up to it, why shoudl he be involved? he is the one we seek to finish of the chances..giroud will play the targetman the other acms will do the playmaking and passing and theo will be at the end finnishing it off..why does theo HAVE to be involved in the passing? what makes you say that? theo is our pedro/giully ..... he might struggle and ruin our build up? who told you the build up weve been uising in theos absence is the de facto strategy of the team? our strategy changes according to formation/players roles..we are adaptable. |
