I think Ferguson had to get rid of him after that interview, though i doubt he'd have done so had Keane been at the peak of his powers, at the time. Well I've met far worse in my time.
Would United have been as successful without Keane? Would they have got to the '99 CL Final had it not been for his efforts in Turin against Juventus? There may have been more talented players at United during Fergie's tenure but none were more consistent, or more important.
Ferguson should be above taking cheap shots at former players, in my opinion.
